Video Gaming Industry is going through a lot of changes these days. Now after the arrival of XBOX One X, lust for true 4K has been upsurged.

There is no doubt that quality of video games has been cultivated a lot. Gamers nowadays want to feel like they are actually present in a game. Games like Forza Motorsport 7 has hit a new benchmark in terms of quality of looks in a game. According to TheNextWeb, Forza Motorsport 7 is the best looking game ever made. It gives you feeling that you are actually driving a car. But in some games, it is not graphics quality that defines the involvement of a player. But the overall experience of hearing, seeing and reacting towards the situation that determines how immense a game is.

Horror Survival is the most prominent genre in which spatial presence is very demanding. Gamers want to feel fear, they want to feel difficult to sleep at night. If a  horror game couldn’t do that, then it is not actually a horror game. So, today we are going to talk about best horror video games you can play in 2017. Some of them are little old but if you haven’t played them then it is recommended to blow your mind with these games.

Here are the 9 Best Horror Games that will blow your mind:

1.Resident Evil 7: BioHazard

Resident Evil 7 is franchise’s best game in years. It was creatively designed with various horror plots immersed in a monster-infested environment. The game is literally very dark with very little light which keeps you alerted to find out what’s there at next corner. It will beat the crap out of your heart even if you have predicted the incoming. It keeps you on toes to find out what’s coming. Often there’s nothing around the next corner. Resident Evil 7 featured some great looking horror environments especially the houses. The game storyline is above average and featured many twists and turns. It is infused with very classy sound which leaps up the fear level. The climax of this game was very satisfying with a great twist and cliffhanger. So, this game is a must play for all the horror lovers.

2. Outlast 2

Outlast 2

Outlast 2 is a game created by a less known company Red Barrels. Surely, they deserve a praise for revolutionizing the horror genre in gaming. The game is filled with terrifying voices, weird creatures, sadistic action throughout the game. The game has ditched the traditional video game elements. So that you can feel that you are surviving all by your own. The game is a great successor to the original and featured many changes to give you an authentic horror experience. The environment is creepy as hell and you have to hide to survive. You’re gonna die several times in this game because it is built that way unless you have seen the walkthroughs before playing. Outlast 2 gives you a complete horror experience with a very brave ending.

3.Dying Light: The Following

7 Best Horror Video Games which you should play in 2017 Dying light

Dying Light is little old but still a great game to play this season. There are numerous reasons why you should play this game. The game is an expansion pack to the original and developed by Techland. The expansion pack was so better than the original that it could be made a new game with little more hard work. With a variety of new characters, weapons, enemies, and story, you get to feel the best horror experience in a game.

The main theme of the game is that infected people get more aggressive and fast at night time. The protagonist had to run from zombies with the use of his parkour skills. The game features many melee weapons probably over 100 to fight against infected people. It features some of the most brutal killings in a horror game. Including the original, the gameplay time is around 50 Hours to completely beat the game.

4.Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice

This game is one of the best games of 2017 including all genres. The game is developed by Ninja Theory who are known for their hack’n’slash games like DMC: Devil May Cry. This game is very unique and first of its kind. The game depicts mental illness in a very creative way. Ninja Theory teams up with some of the biggest names in neuroscience and mental illness to create a pure authentic experience of a mentally ill person. The game is focused on Senua’s (Main Protagonist of the game) point of view, as she embarks on a very personal journey through a hellish underworld made up of Senua’s psychotic manifestations of her reality and mind. The game features binaural sound which feels very realistic and plays with your mind.

The combat system is very basic but still, you will enjoy it as you will follow Senua’s Quest. The Storyline of the game is very good and the ending is purely satisfying. There are a lot of puzzles in the game in which you have to use your perception to solve. Most importantly, the game was a solo project of Ninja Theory and still looks as good as an AAA game. The game is a giant leap for indie industry and now developers are feeling more confident to develop games without publishers. Personally, I feel this game is the best of 2017 so far and a great contender for this year’s GOTY.

evil within 2

The game hasn’t been released yet still it is believed to become one of the best horror game of 2017. Evil Within 2 is highly anticipated among fans of the original and horror lovers. The game will be a third-person survival horror in which the player assumes control of detective Sebastian Castellanos, who must descend into the world of Union to rescue his daughter, Lily. After the current success of Prey which is the best sci-fi thriller of 2017, Bethesda is looking to continue their domination. Looking at the trailers, one thing can be said that experience will be more intensifying.

Take a look at the trailer:

There will be more open world to explore and get shocked. It certainly looks like Bethesda has found a way to articulate the story. Evil Within 2 is definitely a must buy for horror fans to explore more in Sebastian’s story. The game will be released on 13 October 2017.

observer video game

OBSERVER is yet another great horror survival game from the first-person perspective. It is set in 2084 Poland following a “digital plague” that cost the lives of thousands, resulting in war and rampant drug use. The player controls Daniel Lazarski, a Cracovian detective of the Observers police unit tasked with hacking their targets’ memories and fears with a device known as the Dream Eater. OBSERVER is mainly a detective type game where deciphering codes, looking for clues and patterns make most of its gameplay.

The best part about the game is it’s great looking environment which includes every fine detail to follow. Another good feature of the game is extremely fine sound design. The creaking of doors, sounds of blasted TV screens, terrifying noises of ghostly residents with some weird noise from basement and soundtrack makes the whole game alive. The game is best suited to people who want thrill while using their brain.

7.Layers of Fear

Layers of Fear is a psychological horror game developed by Bloober Team. In Layers of Fear, the player controls a psychologically disturbed painter who is trying to complete his magnum opus as he navigates through a Victorian mansion and also disturbing secrets about the painter being discovered. The gameplay is mostly based on Story and solving puzzles is the main aspect of it. The game is heavily praised by critics except for IGN which I think was a very personal review. The environment in the game feels very normal at first but it slowly changes into something scary. Like all the other games in the list, this game is also visually impeccable which I think is a necessity for a good horror video game. Layers of Fear is simply art and creativity at its best but also with some great heart beating moments.

All of these games look absolutely terrifying. Lol. We play a lot of COD, Destiny, GTA, and Minecraft at our house. Any time I play a horror game, it has to be multiplayer because I refuse to play by myself.
